It's funny how certain events can shape our lives. Sometimes we have to relearn how to live to be better humans. I find myself in a pit of gloom lately and have decided that instead of continuing and feeling bad for myself I need to start over. I need to shake my brain and readjust my way of thinking. It's not easy and I am not the best at dealing with change when it comes my way but it's important not only for myself and sense of well being but for those around me as well. I mean what kind of message am I giving my kids if all I do is mope or walk around angry about things I have absolutely no control over? Is that fair to them? Is that how I encourage them to deal with situations that arise in their young lives? No way! So why should it be okay for me? It shouldn't be. Sometimes it's just about how we react. Sure, sometimes we still need to yell and cry but then we need to wipe our faces, take a deep breath, and then do something more positive. Getting out and playing some ball, chasing the kids or dogs, or simply just sitting outside and breathing are all better for me and my loved ones than gritting my teeth and wringing my hands. Just finding the right balance and knowing that life will never be exactly how you envision it every single day is a first step to coping better.
