I've been doing a lot (read: too much) baking of late. It tends to happen anytime I'm stressed out, happy, content, worried....well pretty much any time. Not only bake but cook too. I love trying out new recipes and how I can adapt them to fit my family. For the most part, like a lot of folks, I use the same tried and true recipes and dinners with a new one thrown in here or there. Mainly on weekends when if it's A) a disaster or B) a refusal to be eaten, then I don't feel like a bad Mom for letting them have a bowl of cereal later before bed.
Recently my Mom signed up with an organic fruit and vegetable company that delivers to our home. It's called Farm Fresh to You and it's fantastic! They are located out in the Capay Valley and they grow all sorts of yummy goodness. You can pick how you want your delivery to go...weekly, bi-weekly, monthly or whatever works best for you. You pick the size box you want, anywhere from a snack size of mostly ready to eat fruit and veggies to the monster pack or even a chef's delight of mainly all veggies. We get a regular mixed box every 4 weeks and it's super cool. It's delivered right to my front door by super nice people and then Mom and I split up the goodies. It can be tailored to your likes and dislikes if you choose to not have a certain fruit or vegetable delivered but for us we've decided to try everything. Who knows, maybe we will find a new favorite. Each pack also comes with a newsletter and even recipes and ideas for some of the produce in your box. We have discovered the Dino Kale is excellent and can't wait to try it again. We made pumpkin puree from our baby sugar pumpkin, have eaten the best and sweetest red pears and tasty mandarin oranges. All in all it's been fun opening the box to see what surprises it holds for us with each delivery and I can't wait for more. Check them out for yourself if you are anywhere in region and see if they will deliver to you. Go to www.farmfreshtoyou.com
