let them eat cake

I've been making cakes lately......A barrel of monkey (yes, singular) cake for Corbin and Ryan.........the poor monkey kept loosing his leg but it was okay.
Then I had volunteered cakes for the school carnival's cake walk. The pumpkin was one of the first to go and the haunted house was the grand finale that I actually got to choose the winner for. Let me explain a little. As you know a cake walk is traditionally a bunch of folks walking in a circle or square shape on numbers. Similar to musical chairs, you walk until the music stops. Then someone draws a number and if it's yours you get to pick a goodie off the table. Well here's the thing.....this IS Rio Linda so people don't always GET things. As a result there were plenty of people participating but no one was moving. For whatever reason they just couldn't get the folks to move around the numbers. So by the end of the carnival there was still a ton of goodies and tired people trying to run the booth. So since a whole lot of goodies needed to be moved I thought I should step in and help. We decided to clear out the goodies in 2 more rounds with a new twist. Instead of drawing a number there was going to be a dance off! That's right a cake walk dance off! So Ms. Candy and I gave out the new rules to all participants, collected tickets and started the music. We got the most movement of the entire night! After the music stopped we picked 14 people and cleared the entire table. That left the 4 largest goodies with my haunted cake being the ultimate prize! So you can bet that we were looking for the most energetic and fantastic dancer of the lot. It was a hit and my cake went to a fun girl who danced her butt off! Our second place cake was a younger boy who was walking like an egyptian and third was a teen doing a fierce impression of a sprinkler! It was a great way to end the carnival and I think in the end, everyone had a fantastic time!
