how sweet it is

Greetings to my family, friends, The Pioneer Woman and strangers alike! Yesterday was a day to celebrate and I must share our good news with everyone.
Corbin went to his fantastic cardiologist, Dr. Fallah, yesterday morning for a 1 year recheck of his heart. As most of you will recall he was born with a hole in the upper chamber wall of his heart as well as a heart murmur. So after much stethoscope listening and an ultrasound of the heart, Dr. Fallah imparts the following news on us. Corbin's hole has closed to the size of a pinhole and the murmur is no longer present. It is his professional pleasure to pronounce my amazing son's heart as normal and healthy. We are no longer required to come for cardiology appointments from here on out! Enjoy our son and help him enjoy his life everyday to his maximum enjoyment!
Can you believe it????? I am so relieved and yet didn't quite realize how much I was dreading to hear that his heart still hadn't changed. Until that very moment in time, sitting in the doctor's office, I thought I had a handle on the whole situation. It's no big deal they've been telling me. Even if the hole didn't close he can live a fully normal functioning life without any surgery required. But to hear the words of "perfectly healthy heart" ..........my mind soared and my heart swooned. I could not find words to express my feelings of joy and could not thank the doctor and staff enough. They had been a part of Corbin's first days in the hospital and were part of the staff that looked after him when I was unable to sit at his bedside. I am truly appreciative of all they did for my son and as much as I respect them I can forcefully say that I hope we do not have to meet again anytime in the near or foreseeable future!
