this, that and the other

I can't wait...I Can't Wait....I CAN'T WAIT!!!!! I know it's been forever and ever since I last posted up some new recipes but I hope to remedy that very soon and this time I mean it! Saturday is THE big day of baking, cooking and candy making. Toni and I are going to be up at the crack of dark and get cooking. I am so terribly excited that I can barely stand myself. Have I mentioned that Toni is an amatuer photographer? I haven't? Oh well, I trust we will end up with oodles of excellent pictures to share with everyone and you just wait and see what we are going to be up to. I'd tell you but it would ruin the anticipation and fun.

On another note.....I can hardly believe the year is swiftly coming to a close. School is just about half over for the year and I couldn't be more proud of our son. He is very intellegent and it shows in all his school work and classroom behavior. Now if I could just get him to be that good at home.........

We went to our first Kings game of the season last Saturday night. Took Garrison with us and don't you know he decided to root for the opposing team! Little stinker. Of course it gave all those around us much enjoyment to watch my gloating son as his new team was scoring all over us. Then that beautiful moment came when we were up by two. I turn to him to do my own gloating and before I can even open my mouth he leans in towards me and with all the sophistication of an adult proclaims, "Let's just not talk about the score right now." Then he let's out an exasperated sigh and tells his team to shoot the ball. So unfair! I was robbed of being able to rub in my teams accomplishments. Oh well...we won in the end anyhow and he still picked out a Kings hat and sweatshirt as souvieners and wore them both proudly. He is still young, still moldable. I will get him yet........

I'm actually ready and excited for Christmas this year. It generally bothers me that Christmas starts the day after Halloween anymore but not this year. Maybe because I'm excited that my boys are all so excited. Every day Garrison tells me how this is going to be the best Christmas ever. Whenever we get in the car at night I worry that both Garrison and Declan might actual hyperventilate or pass out from the excitement of seeing lights and decorations on houses. Doesn't matter that they tend to be the same houses every time it still excites them to no end. I guess what I am saying is that having young kids who are so excited by lights and ornaments and paper chains makes me appreciate the holiday all the more. Reminds me that it isn't all about trying to get everything done right now, isnt' about fighting crowds and shopping. It's about the joy and wonder of the season itself. Gives me pause to evaluate and slow down. To give thanks for all I have and enjoy these special moments of pure delight and wonder through the eyes of my children. For I know that it wont last forever and now is the time to cherish it the most.

Well happy holidays to everyone and watch for the new recipes soon to come!
