teething, dieting and potty training....oh my

So maybe not necessarily in that order but my word, what a ride it has been lately. With two kids life is of course always interesting. Our little guy just turned 6 months old and already had 4.25 teeth. He started teething the day he turned 3 months old! Now my other son had teeth at 4 months so I guess it is probably a good thing we aren't going to have more children. They might start coming out with teeth! I know it can happen but one can only imagine. Regardless of age, teething is miserable. He just cries and tries to scratch the hell out of his head and rip his ears off. I can only assume the pressure in his gums makes his ears and head hurt. So more tylenol and ibuprofen and teething tablets it is. Never do we have enough frozen teethers and invariably when needed I can't find the teether that vibrates when chewed upon. (An absolute must for anyone with teething infants!) But eventually the pain subsides and he is left with a cute little new tooth. One more little treasure to better chew and bite the dickens out of your fingers with. Now our other one is full entrenched in the whole potty training process. We had been trying for a while, none to successfully and then one day it was as if the whole thing just clicked. Well..... sort of. He has the whole #1 end of the process down. He has no accidents during the day and stays dry during naps and overnight. He can even go on a 2.5 hour car trip with no problems. He just tells us when he needs to go and where ever we are we find a bathroom. Easy.......except not. He doesn't do #2. (No pun intended!) I don't know if it is fear or what but he would rather hold it in and not go for days rather than go. Not good for his regular well being. He finally can't stand it any longer and either goes where standing or asks for a pull up or diaper and does his thing. No kind of convincing or bribing will get him to go on the toliet. Now I know it too will happen with time and patientence but any one who knows me even a little bit knows that I am not an extemely patient person and hate to have to wait for anything! And to top it all off I've decided to really go on a healthy eating diet and exercise plan. I have a goal. I intend to go to Vegas in 1 year for a super birthday blow out bash. I do not intend to go looking the way I do now. I figure 1 year is a realistic time frame to loose a good amount of weight and get into shape. I haven't been "in shape" in quite a few years now. Especially after having two babies. Plus I want a real pant size. Not just elastic. I have yet to fit back into a pair of pants comfortably. Everything is either way too tight or just too big. There is no half size in pants and that is really what I need. Not to mention I don't want to LOOK like a mom when I go to Vegas. Don't get me wrong, I love my kids and being their mom but I am going to Vegas to celebrate turning 30 and looking fabulous. I want to look like I am single & hot, even if I am not. (Single that is!) But as far as the diet goes, well lets just say I have determination but I am weak in will power. I've never dieted before and now it is a totally new experience. I LOVE sweets and anything crunchy and salty. Trying to substitute a healthy snack for a junk snack isn't always as satisfying as one might hope. Regardless of what is actually going on in our house it keeps me on my toes. Eventually all of these things will resolve themselves or pass. All of Declan's teeth will eventually come in, Garrison will finally use the potty consistently and I will get in shape. Of course once all of that happens it will then be Declan's turn to start potty training, Garrison will be losing teething and gaining new ones and well, I will probably be fat again! But such is life as wonderful and trying as it may be.

I am laughing so hard!

You must go read MY blog about potty training! We are having the EXACT same problem with Alex. I am suddenly not feeling so alone about this. I thought it was due to Alex' immature digestive system and his regular constipation problems. Maybe this is not the case but more normal than I thought!

Oh, BTW are you teaching him to pee standing up or sitting? We are sitting due to the fact public potty's & urinals are way to tall for my oh so short son. We do the reverse sitting thing and it is working great!! He even has started going by himself when home.

Hugs my friend.. I missed you while I was in Texas!
